KLANG, Oct 3 – Pakatan Harapan (PH) is expected to unveil its candidate lineup for the upcoming Melaka state election within the next one to two weeks, according to PH Election Director Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
Speaking at the launch of the Tabung Warisan Anak Selangor (TAWAS) ‘Tuaian Anak Harapan’ (TUAH) initiative in Klang on Saturday, October 3, 2026, Amirudin noted that the coalition’s election machinery has been actively preparing over the past two months.
“Our machinery is moving and ready. It is only the coordination, alignment, and mutual understanding that are yet to be finalised,” Amirudin stated. “God willing, in the near future — within a week or two — we will announce the candidates who will be contesting.”
Seat Distribution Completed at State Level
The announcement follows confirmations from Melaka PH Chairman Adly Zahari that seat allocations among component parties at the state level have already been finalized.
Final adjustments to the seat list will be concluded following upcoming discussions involving the PH Presidential Council, state leadership, and Amirudin in his capacity as election director.
Potential Cooperation and Assembly Dissolution
Addressing questions regarding possible collaboration with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) for the state election, Amirudin—who is also the Selangor Menteri Besar—stated that PH remains open to discussions if viable opportunities exist.
“If there is room, we will discuss. If not, we are ready to contest based on our existing capacity and understanding,” he added.
The 28-seat Melaka State Legislative Assembly was dissolved effective September 23, 2026, after receiving consent from Melaka Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam.
