IPOH, Oct 3 – A total of 58 people from 17 families have been evacuated to two temporary relief centres (Pusat Pemindahan Sementara or PPS) following localized flooding in Perak’s Hilir Perak and Larut, Matang dan Selama districts.
According to a statement issued by the State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat on Saturday, October 3, 2026, relief operations were activated to shelter displaced residents from two separate affected areas.
Breakdown of Relief Centres and Affected Areas
The secretariat confirmed that evacuees are currently housed at the following locations:
- Dewan Orang Ramai Kampung Degong (Hilir Perak): Sheltering three victims following flash floods along the Jalan Kampar-Langkap area that occurred around 4:00 PM on Thursday.
- Kampung Menteri Mosque (Larut, Matang dan Selama): Accommodating 55 victims from 15 families after floodwaters submerged parts of Kampung Menteri at 8:00 PM on Friday.
Weather Forecast and Precautionary Warnings
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a weather advisory forecasting thunderstorms across several interior and southern districts of Perak, including Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang, and Muallim.
Continued rainfall is expected to persist into the evening, with authorities remaining on high alert for potential secondary water surges in low-lying areas.
