KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 – The Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court has granted a five-day remand order against two corporate figures, who are brothers, to assist in an investigation into alleged abuse of power involving an investment valued at approximately RM10 million.
Magistrate Ezrene Zakariah issued the remand order on Thursday morning, effective from October 1 until October 5, 2026.
According to sources, the suspects—aged in their 40s and 50s and holding the titles “Datuk Seri” and “Datuk Wira”—were detained at around 9:00 PM on Wednesday after giving their statements at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters.
Alleged Modus Operandi and Seizures
Preliminary investigations indicate that the brothers allegedly colluded in late 2020 with an official from an education-focused foundation. The collusion allegedly aimed to approve an investment of around RM10 million into a private investment firm owned by the elder brother.
As part of the ongoing investigation, MACC officers seized several high-value assets, including:
- 15 luxury automobiles
- 12 high-powered motorcycles
- 5 luxury timepieces
- 3 bracelets
- Approximately RM30,000 in cash
MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman confirmed the arrests and stated that the case is being investigated under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009, which pertains to offences of using office or position for gratification.
