PUTRAJAYA, Aug 4 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested five additional immigration officers for their alleged involvement in hacking the Malaysian Immigration System (MyIMMs) to unlawfully process and approve Temporary Employment Visit Passes (PLKS).
According to an official source, the suspects—comprising four men and one woman aged between their 30s and 40s—were detained at approximately 1:00 pm yesterday after turning up to give their statements at the MACC headquarters here.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the officers allegedly colluded to breach the MyIMMs system and bypass standard operating procedures to secure unauthorized PLKS approvals. Following the arrests, enforcement officers seized five mobile phones belonging to the suspects to facilitate ongoing inquiries.
The latest arrests bring the total number of individuals whose statements have been recorded in connection with the investigation to 17.
MACC Chief Commissioner Abd Halim Aman confirmed the latest developments, stating that the case is being investigated under Sections 17(a) and 16(a) of the MACC Act 2009. All five suspects are scheduled to be brought before the Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court today for remand applications.
The operation follows an earlier crackdown on July 28, when the MACC arrested 12 individuals during a joint operation conducted across Penang and the Klang Valley. That earlier group included six immigration officers, two company directors, three foreign nationals, and one police officer. As part of the broader probe, the anti-graft agency has also frozen bank accounts containing approximately RM300,000.
