Johor Exco Members Sworn In Following Regent’s Palace Arrival

Johor Exco swearing in ceremony

JOHOR BAHRU, July 18 — The official vehicle carrying the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail, arrived at Istana Bukit Serene at 11.03 am today, ahead of the high-profile swearing-in ceremony of the Johor State Executive Council (Exco) members for the new term.

The political transition began early in the morning, with vehicles carrying the newly designated Johor State Exco members filing through the palace compound via the Jalan Kolam Air gate starting at 9.00 am.

This was subsequently followed by the arrival of a convoy transporting Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, Johor Council of Royal Court president Datuk Dr Abdul Rahim Ramli, and State Secretary Datuk Mohammed Ridha Abd Kadir, who entered the palace compound through the main gates at approximately 10.19 am.

Anticipating the significant political milestone, a large presence of media practitioners had gathered outside the palace perimeter as early as 8.00 am to provide live coverage of the formal swearing-in proceedings.

The official ceremony follows last Sunday’s administrative milestone, where Onn Hafiz—the incumbent Machap assemblyman—was formally sworn in as the Johor Menteri Besar for a second consecutive term.

His re-appointment came swiftly after Barisan Nasional (BN) achieved a landslide victory in the 16th Johor State Election. The consequential state poll, held last Saturday, saw the BN coalition successfully secure 48 out of the 56 contested state assembly seats, providing a massive mandate to form the state government for the new legislative term.
