Johor DAP Delegates Free to Vote on Staying or Leaving Unity Government at National Conference – Teo Nie Ching

KULAI, Aug 14 — Johor DAP has granted its state delegates complete freedom to decide through a vote at this Sunday’s DAP Conference whether the party should remain part of or exit the ruling Unity Government. Johor DAP Chairman Teo Nie Ching stated today that the state leadership has deliberately refrained from adopting a formal position on the matter, choosing instead to respect the democratic decision of individual delegates.

Speaking after officiating the handover ceremony for allocations under the 2026 MADANI Adopted School Programme at Sekolah Kebangsaan Murni Jaya in Kampung Murni Jaya, Layang-Layang, Teo assured that the state chapter will fully abide by whatever outcome the national conference yields.

“Actually, we have not taken a position at the state level because it involves a vote. We are giving delegates the freedom to make the decision at this Sunday’s conference,” Teo told reporters.

“So, it is up to them. Yesterday, we held a dialogue session with the secretary-general (Anthony Loke) to explain the motion. Johor will abide by the decision made on Sunday,” she explained.

Teo, who is also Deputy Communications Minister, expressed full confidence that party delegates possess the maturity and foresight to weigh the options carefully and cast their votes in the best interest of both DAP and the nation’s political stability.

When asked about political analysis suggesting that 14 Pakatan Harapan seats could fall into vulnerable red or yellow warning zones if Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional forge an electoral pact, the Kulai MP emphasized the party’s readiness for any political landscape.

“We will do our best in the upcoming General Election to defend our seats. We are prepared to face whatever situation arises,” Teo asserted.
