KUALA LUMPUR, July 26 — Bukit Aman Special Branch Director Datuk Seri Ibrahim Darus has been appointed as acting Deputy Inspector-General of Police (IGP) effective today, succeeding Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, who retires tomorrow after nearly 35 years of service with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).
The official handing over of duties between Ayob Khan and Ibrahim took place at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) here today, witnessed by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail.
Ayob Khan, who was appointed Deputy IGP on June 23, 2023, has held several key operational and leadership positions throughout his distinguished career in PDRM. His past roles include serving in the Special Branch and leading its Counter-Terrorism Division, as well as appointments as Johor Police Chief, Director of the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department, and Director of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department before becoming Deputy IGP.
