KLUANG, Oct 2 – A husband and wife were killed while their two daughters sustained severe injuries in a collision between a car and a lorry at Kilometre 72.5 of Jalan Batu Pahat-Mersing on Friday afternoon, October 2, 2026.
Kluang Police Chief ACP Bahrin Mohd Noh stated that the crash involved a Hyundai Matrix carrying a family of four and a lorry driven by a 34-year-old local man traveling toward Kahang.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the Hyundai Matrix, driven by 54-year-old Mislan Osman, lost control on a slippery stretch of road before veering into the opposite lane and colliding head-on with the oncoming lorry.
Fatalities and Emergency Response
Kluang Fire and Rescue Station Commander Jusoh Mohd Salleh confirmed that an emergency call was logged at 4:53 PM. A team of six firefighters, equipped with a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle, was immediately dispatched to the scene.
Rescue teams utilized hydraulic extrication equipment to free two trapped victims from the wreckage:
- Deceased: Mislan Osman, 54, and his wife, Nor Azilah A Rahman, 49, suffered severe head and bodily injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
- Injured Passengers: The couple’s two daughters, aged 21 and 24, who were seated in the rear passenger cabin, sustained severe injuries and were admitted to the red zone of the Emergency Department at Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital in Kluang.
- Lorry Driver: The 34-year-old lorry driver escaped the incident uninjured.
Police are investigating the accident under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
