GUA MUSANG, Sept 21 — A total of 81 evacuees from 22 families remain sheltered at a temporary relief centre in Gua Musang after flood waters inundated parts of the district following continuous heavy rainfall.
According to data from the Social Welfare Department’s InfoBencana portal, all affected residents from one mukim are currently housed at the temporary relief centre located at Sekolah Kebangsaan Limau Kasturi 1.
The rising floodwaters have also severely impacted local infrastructure and transportation routes across the district. A site check conducted today revealed that the Linggi Bridge, which serves as a vital link for approximately 600 Orang Asli residents from the Mendriq and Bateq communities in Kampung Pasir Linggi, Pos Lebir, has been completely submerged by overflowing waters from Sungai Linggi since yesterday morning.
The submergence of the bridge has effectively cut off land transportation and road access to and from the settlement, forcing local residents to rely on boats as their primary mode of travel to leave the area.
