KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 3 – The Malaysian government has disbursed RM4.26 million in total financial rewards to medal-winning athletes and their respective coaching staff under the National Sports Incentive Scheme (SHAKAM) and Coaches’ Incentive Scheme (SGAR) following standout performances across three major multi-sport games this year.
The incentives honor achievements at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, and the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Para Games.
Speaking at a celebratory reward presentation ceremony in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday night, November 3, 2026, Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Mohammed Taufiq Johari detailed the breakdown of the reward pool:
- Athlete Incentives (SHAKAM): RM3.55 million distributed directly to medal-winning athletes.

- Event Breakdown: RM1.87 million for the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, RM1.30 million for the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Para Games, and RM1.09 million for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
“This incentive is not merely a monetary reward. It is a symbol of the nation’s appreciation for your sacrifices, discipline, and excellence,” Dr. Mohammed Taufiq expressed in his keynote address. “Every time the Jalur Gemilang is raised and Negaraku is played, all Malaysians share the same sense of pride.”
Among individual honorees, national track cycling icon Datuk Mohd Azizulhasni Awang emerged as a top recipient under the ‘Special Recognition’ category, receiving RM180,000. National para long jump star Datuk Abdul Latif Romly received RM160,000 in recognition of his podium performance.
