Former HR Minister Saravanan and Family Arrive at MACC to Receive Asset Declaration Notices

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 28 – Former Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan, accompanied by his wife and two children, arrived at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters on Monday morning to receive statutory notices requiring them to declare their assets.

Two black vehicles carrying Saravanan and his family members were seen entering the MACC complex in Putrajaya at approximately 9:15 AM.

MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman previously announced that formal notices issued under Section 36 of the MACC Act 2009 would be served on Saravanan, his wife, and their three children. The recipients have a 30-day statutory period from the date of service to submit full asset declarations.

Abd Halim noted that an extension of time will be granted upon application if the initial one-month period proves insufficient for compliance. A third child, currently residing abroad, will receive a separate declaration notice in November.

The asset declaration notices follow legal proceedings initiated against Saravanan, who is also the MIC deputy president. He was previously charged in the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court with three counts of corruption involving bribes totaling nearly RM1.09 million.

The charges relate to the alleged approval of 1,000 foreign worker quotas for a private company in 2022 during his tenure as Human Resources Minister. Saravanan has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
