Former FELDA General Manager Remanded in MACC Probe Over Developer Appointment and Land Sale

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 7 — A former general manager of the Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA) was brought to the Magistrate’s Court here today for remand proceedings in connection with an abuse of power investigation involving land sales and developer appointments.

The suspect, a man in his late 60s, arrived at court at 9:15 am in a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) vehicle wearing a green collared shirt. He was detained at 4:00 pm yesterday alongside a man in his 50s after both individuals appeared at the MACC headquarters to record their statements.

The investigation focuses on allegations of abuse of power regarding the selection and appointment of a developer for a project in Kuala Lumpur, as well as the sale of land owned by the statutory body.

The arrests form part of ‘OPS FELLA’, a large-scale special probe launched by the anti-graft agency into alleged misappropriation, abuse of power, and corruption within FELDA and its subsidiary, FELDA Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd (FIC). MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman previously reported that investigators opened seven investigation papers under OPS FELLA, targeting investment transactions and asset acquisitions conducted by FELDA and FIC management between 2010 and 2020.

Six new investigation papers were opened on Aug 24, while an active existing paper regarding the Park City Grand Plaza property in London is undergoing the Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) process.

Other high-value transactions under scrutiny include investments in Syarikat Tataran Aras Sdn Bhd in Sarawak, the acquisition of Grand Borneo Hotel Sdn Bhd in Sabah, the purchase of Grand Plaza Service Apartments in London, the establishment of Felda Wellness Corporation Sdn Bhd, the acquisition of Felda House and Grand Felda House, and alleged irregularities surrounding the Kuala Lumpur Vertical City (KLVC) project.
