WASHINGTON, Oct 9 – Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has claimed that his private aerospace manufacturer, SpaceX, could eventually achieve a corporate valuation that eclipses the size of the total global economy.
In a post published on his social media platform X, Musk outlined an extraordinary long-term growth trajectory for the space exploration entity, without detailing the specific financial mechanisms or business models that would drive such valuation expansion.
“This will sound super crazy, but I see a path to SpaceX being worth orders of magnitude more than the current Earth economy,” Musk wrote on X.
Current Valuation vs Global Economic Scale
Musk’s projection presents a massive leap from existing corporate valuation benchmarks and global macroeconomic metrics:
- Current SpaceX Valuation: SpaceX holds an enterprise valuation estimated at approximately US$2.2 trillion.
- Global Economic Output: Total global Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was assessed at approximately US$118 trillion in 2025 by the World Bank.
- Capital Market Impact: Achieving a valuation “orders of magnitude” above global GDP would require the commercialization of space-based assets and off-world resources at a scale unprecedented in corporate history.
Musk did not elaborate further on whether the projected value hinges on Mars colonization initiatives, Starlink satellite network expansion, or deep-space resource extraction.
