KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 19 — Complaints regarding online health advertisements and promotional materials that potentially breach regulations and deceive the public will be directed to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for formal review and necessary action.

Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil confirmed the decision following a meeting with medical experts and representatives from various healthcare associations in Kuala Lumpur today.

Writing in a Facebook post following the engagement, Fahmi stated that the meeting was convened to listen to key insights, proposals, and operational concerns brought forward by leaders in the medical fraternity.

“The matter will be referred to MCMC for review and further action with the relevant parties,” Fahmi stated.

The minister expressed his appreciation for the open and constructive dialogue, emphasizing that direct feedback from healthcare practitioners is vital to gaining an accurate understanding of ground-level issues and developing more effective measures to protect consumers from deceptive online medical claims.
