Bursa Malaysia Stays Higher At Midday Tracking Regional Peers

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 5 – Bursa Malaysia maintained its upward momentum at midday, trading higher in tandem with positive performance across key regional stock markets.

At 12:30 PM, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 1.84 points to 1,632.71 compared to Friday’s closing mark of 1,630.87.

After opening 2.55 points higher at 1,633.42, the index fluctuated within an intraday range of 1,630.95 to 1,640.46 throughout the morning trading session.

Market Breadth and Turnover

Despite the gains in the main index, market breadth across the broader exchange turned negative by the mid-day break:

  • Market Movements: Decliners outpaced advancing stocks 562 to 476, while 470 counters remained unchanged.
  • Inactive Securities: A total of 1,265 counters went untraded, and 24 counters remained suspended.
  • Trading Volume: Total market turnover reached 2.93 billion units valued at RM1.39 billion.
