KOTA BHARU, Aug 14 — The body of 14-year-old Mohd Rayyan Hakimi Mohd Yusmiza, who went missing after being feared drowned in the Kelantan River near Kampung Aur Duri in Kuala Krai, was recovered today following an extensive four-day search and rescue (SAR) operation.

Kuala Krai Fire and Rescue Station Chief Nik Ahmad Afsham Nik Pa confirmed that the teenager’s body was located at approximately 1:00 pm near Sungai Kemubu in Kampung Bandar, Pulai Chondong—roughly 50 kilometres downstream from where he initially fell into the river.

“The fourth day of the SAR operation began at 8 am today, involving 20 boats and personnel from the Auxiliary Squad, Civil Defence Force (APM), Fire and Rescue Department and police,” Nik Ahmad Afsham said when contacted today.

“Due to the distance from the discovery site, the victim’s identity was confirmed at 2.50 pm before the body was handed over to police,” he added.

The victim’s father, Mohd Yusmiza Mamat, 42, expressed deep gratitude that his second child was finally brought home, sharing that the family has accepted the tragedy as divine decree.

“My son’s remains will be buried at the Kampung Aur Duri Cemetery as his mother, Norhasmiza Kamarudin, is from this village,” Yusmiza said.

Mohd Rayyan Hakimi and his friend, 14-year-old Luth Naiman Mohd Noraziron, were feared drowned while bathing in the river at around 6:39 pm last Tuesday.

Luth Naiman’s body was previously recovered by the Water Rescue Unit (PPDA) at 9:10 am yesterday, approximately 100 metres from the spot where the duo were reported missing.
