Bersatu is Sole Opposition Following BN-PN Alignment

PETALING JAYA, July 19 — Bersatu has effectively become the only genuine opposition party left in Parliament, party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin claimed today. The bold declaration follows recent nationwide structural realignments that have fundamentally shifted the balance of power within the federal legislative assembly.

Muhyiddin outlined the current governing matrix to illustrate the complete absorption of traditional political blocs into the establishment framework.

“Pakatan Harapan is the government at the federal level and in some states. Barisan Nasional is also the government at the federal level and in a few states,” Muhyiddin observed, pointing out the deeply intertwined nature of the ruling coalitions. “When Perikatan Nasional entered into a political cooperation with Barisan, Perikatan indirectly became a party that supports the ruling party.”

The former prime minister warned that the recent non-aggression pacts and strategic seat arrangements have created a dangerous democratic deficit, leaving a huge void in Malaysia’s contemporary political landscape with virtually no substantial political bloc left to act as a robust check and balance against executive federal policies.

“There is no longer any party that carries the voice of the people, especially in this challenging times,” Muhyiddin added, positioning his party as the final line of systemic accountability.

He reminded party loyalists that Bersatu—which was originally established to aggressively combat the institutional kleptocracy linked directly to the multi-billion dollar 1MDB scandal—must firmly persist with its core founding purpose to advocate for grassroots welfare and advance national development independent of ruling alliances.

The Bersatu president launched a blistering critique against Barisan Nasional and its lynchpin party, UMNO. He accused the traditional Malay nationalist party of systematically attempting to shift the blame for their historical administrative shortcomings onto external rivals while simultaneously enjoying the lucrative executive benefits of being embedded in government.

Muhyiddin further alleged that the establishment was merely invoking the emotive cause of Malay and Muslim unity as a cynical electoral strategy to win back the support of disillusioned conservative voters ahead of crucial regional polls.

“Believe me, this is nothing more than a charade intended to mislead the Malay community and the public in a bid to gain power,” Muhyiddin stated emphatically. “Bersatu is free from this charade. It remains steadfast in its commitment to its goals and principles of championing the people’s interests and advancing the nation.”

The pronouncement sets a highly confrontational tone for the opposition’s legislative strategy moving forward, as Bersatu attempts to entirely decouple its brand from broader Perikatan Nasional policy concessions and establish itself as the definitive alternative voice in Malaysian politics.
