Badminton Fraternity Will Always Cherish Dr Siti Hasmah’s Warmth and Support, Says BAM

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 – The Malaysian badminton fraternity will forever remember and cherish former Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) patron Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali for her unwavering warmth, affection, and steadfast support for the sport.

In an official statement released on Monday, BAM extended its deepest condolences to the family of Tun Dr Siti Hasmah following her passing at the age of 100.

“BAM President Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, together with the BAM Council, management, coaches, players, and staff, extend heartfelt condolences to Tun Dr Siti Hasmah’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” the association stated. “May Allah SWT shower her with His mercy and blessings, and place her among the righteous. May her family be granted strength and patience in this time of sorrow.”

Tun Dr Siti Hasmah served as BAM patron for over two decades until 2007. Her tenure included Malaysia’s historic Thomas Cup triumph over arch-rivals Indonesia at Stadium Negara in 1992, during which she was widely celebrated for her maternal presence and encouragement toward national athletes.

The wife of former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad passed away at the National Heart Institute (IJN) on Monday morning. Her death was confirmed by her son, Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir.
