Anwar Chairs MA63 Action Council Meeting in Kota Kinabalu, Visits Fire Victims

KOTA KINABALU, Sept 11 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim chaired the Malaysia Agreement 1963 Implementation Action Council (MTP MA63) meeting at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) in Kota Kinabalu on Friday morning. The high-level meeting serves as a central highlight of the Prime Minister’s working visit to Sabah, bringing together top state and federal leadership.

The council meeting was attended by key leaders from the Bornean states, including Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg. The high-level discussions focused on accelerating the implementation of constitutional commitments, administrative devolution, and socio-economic rights outlined under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 framework.

Following the conclusion of the MTPMA63 proceedings, Prime Minister Anwar is scheduled to perform Friday prayers alongside the local community at Masjid Jamek Kampung Likas. Later in the afternoon, the Prime Minister will visit the temporary evacuation centre located at the Damai Multipurpose Hall at 1:50 pm to observe first-hand the condition and welfare of residents affected by a severe fire in Kampung Numbak. The August 30 tragedy destroyed approximately 200 stilt homes in the village, leaving three victims dead.
