All Malaysians in Saudi Arabia Safe Following Drone Interception Near Makkah, Says Foreign Ministry

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 16 — All Malaysian nationals, including pilgrims currently in Saudi Arabia, are safe and accounted for, with no reports of stranded citizens or flight disruptions following recent security developments in the Kingdom.

The Foreign Ministry (Wisma Putra) confirmed in a statement on Wednesday that it is closely monitoring the situation in Saudi Arabia, while the Consulate General of Malaysia in Jeddah maintains direct communication with Malaysian citizens and pilgrims in the region.

“Malaysians residing in or visiting the region are nevertheless advised to stay informed and comply with directives issued by the local authorities,” the ministry said.

Wisma Putra urged Malaysian travellers who have not yet registered their presence to do so promptly via the e-Konsular portal ([https://ekonsular.kln.gov.my](https://ekonsular.kln.gov.my)). Meanwhile, Malaysia commended Saudi authorities for their swift and effective actions to protect Makkah, its residents, visitors, and pilgrims. The ministry noted that despite local security alerts, daily life and religious pilgrimage activities across the holy city continue as usual.

The official statement follows reports that Saudi air defences intercepted and destroyed a drone launched by the Houthi group near Makkah on Tuesday amid heightened regional tensions.
