
PUTRAJAYA, March 26 – Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) announced that the cabinet has decided for the Prime Minister, ministers and deputy ministers to take 2 months pay cut and the salaries would be channeled to the country’s recently launched COVID-19 fund.
In a statement today, PMO said that the move is taken to show the determination of the government to help those affected by the spread of COVID-19 virus.
The COVID-19 fund was launched on March 11 as part of government efforts to help those who are affected by the pandemic.
As of yesterday, the total amount collected including government grant is RM8,493,103.48
The move is expected to be well-received by many Malaysians as netizens had been asking for it since neighboring country Singapore announced that the republic’s president and ministers would be taking one month pay-cut in light of the COVID-19 outbreak.
