Adly Challenges BN To Substantiate Claim Of 97 Per Cent Manifesto Fulfilment In Melaka

Adly Zahari BN manifesto Melaka state election

MELAKA, Nov 8 – Melaka Pakatan Harapan (PH) Chairman Adly Zahari has challenged Barisan Nasional (BN) to provide transparent, itemized proof regarding its claim of fulfilling 97 per cent of its promises from the 2021 Melaka State Election manifesto.

Speaking at PH’s daily press conference at the coalition’s main operations center in Bukit Baru on Sunday, November 8, 2026, Adly urged Melaka BN to release a complete breakdown of the 103 initiatives across five main thrusts so voters can verify actual implementation outcomes.

“The claimed achievements should be accompanied by a complete list showing the status and commitments so that voters can make their own assessment,” stated Adly, who is defending his Bukit Katil state seat in the 16th Melaka State Election. He stressed that government promises must be evaluated on tangible results rather than unverified percentage claims.

Addressing fiscal governance, Adly cited the Auditor-General’s Report showing that the BN-led Melaka state government recorded a deficit in 2024, generating RM490 million in revenue against expenditures totaling RM519 million.

“Sometimes we may be able to increase revenue, but expenditure management must also be given priority… that is why, according to the 2024 records, the (state government’s) revenue was RM490 million, while expenditure stood at RM519 million,” he explained.

Adly contrasted the 2024 deficit with his tenure as Melaka Chief Minister in 2019 under PH, during which the state recorded a financial surplus of RM50 million. He reaffirmed that PH’s “Melaka Rumah Kita” campaign platform promises clean, transparent, and prudent financial management.

The Election Commission has set Tuesday, November 10, 2026, for early voting, with general polling for the Melaka State Election taking place on Saturday, November 14.
