PUTRAJAYA, Oct 8 – Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing was accorded an official state welcoming ceremony at the Perdana Putra Complex on Thursday morning, marking the second day of his two-day official visit to Malaysia.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim received the visiting president at approximately 9:00 AM on October 8, 2026, where national anthems of both nations were played.
Min Aung Hlaing subsequently inspected a guard of honour mounted by three officers and 103 personnel from the First Battalion of the Royal Ranger Regiment, under the command of Major Muhammad Nur Addeen Mustaza.
High-Level Delegates and Bilateral Agenda
The ceremonial welcome was attended by key Malaysian cabinet ministers, foreign diplomats, and senior government officials:
- Attending Dignitaries: Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, and Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani joined senior Cabinet members and diplomatic representatives at the ceremony.
- Delegation Meetings: Following the guest book signing, Min Aung Hlaing engaged in a private four-eyes meeting with Prime Minister Anwar before joining expanded bilateral talks alongside delegation ministers and senior officials.
- Repatriation Negotiations: Bilateral discussions centered on structured mechanisms for the voluntary, safe, and dignified repatriation of undocumented Myanmar nationals across all ethnic communities currently residing in Malaysia.
- ASEAN Regional Framework: Both heads of state evaluated ongoing diplomatic and humanitarian initiatives facilitated through established ASEAN frameworks to promote regional stability and constructive engagement.
