Myanmar National Arrested In Cheras Following Fatal Stabbing Of Compatriot

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 8 – A Myanmar national was arrested by police in Taman Maluri, Cheras, yesterday on suspicion of murdering a fellow countryman using a pair of scissors.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus confirmed that the suspect, an unemployed man in his early 30s with no prior criminal record, was detained shortly after the violent incident.

During the arrest, police recovered a pair of scissors believed to have been used as the murder weapon in the fatal assault.

Police action swiftness led to the apprehension of the prime suspect within hours of the victim’s death:

  • Victim’s Fatal Injuries: The victim, a Myanmar national in his early 20s, was pronounced dead at 10:00 AM at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) after suffering severe abdominal stab wounds.
  • Rapid Police Operation: Acting on public intelligence, a team from the Cheras District Police Headquarters (IPD) Criminal Investigation Division located and arrested the suspect at a premises in Taman Maluri at approximately 12:00 PM.
  • Ongoing Investigation: The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which carries the death penalty or extended imprisonment upon conviction.
  • Remand and Post-Mortem: Police are submitting a formal remand application today to detain the suspect for further questioning while waiting for post-mortem findings from the HCTM Forensic Centre.

Police investigations remain ongoing to determine the motive behind the fatal dispute between the two foreign nationals.
