Malaysia Condemns Houthi Attacks, Stands in Solidarity With Saudi Arabia

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 21 – Malaysia has strongly condemned the ongoing Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia, particularly those targeting civilians and critical infrastructure, while reaffirming its firm support and solidarity with the Kingdom.

In an official statement released on Monday, the Foreign Ministry (Wisma Putra) confirmed that Malaysia supports Saudi Arabia’s right to defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the safety of its population, in line with international law and the United Nations Charter.

“Malaysia attaches great importance to its longstanding partnership with Saudi Arabia, and remains fully committed to further strengthening this partnership for mutual interests of both nations,” the ministry stated.

Addressing the rising security situation across the region, Wisma Putra emphasized the need for diplomatic resolution and restraint.

“Malaysia also supports all efforts towards de-escalation and an immediate end to the hostilities,” the ministry added.

The response from Putrajaya comes following a surge in cross-border aggression by Houthi forces targeting major urban centers and civilian facilities across Saudi Arabia. On Sept 19, Saudi defense systems intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched towards the capital city of Riyadh.

According to reports by the Saudi Gazette, recent attempts by Houthi rebels to strike civilian targets in Baish, Taif, Farasan, and Yanbu were successfully thwarted by air defense capabilities. However, earlier strikes on Sept 14 involving drones and missiles hitting Khamis Mushait, Abha, and Taif resulted in 13 civilian injuries along with structural damage to private residences and vehicles.
