KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is reviewing information regarding the execution of an oil palm development and replanting programme at FELDA Palong 7 in Wilayah Raja Alias, Bandar Sri Jempol, Negeri Sembilan, following concerns over seedling quality and specification compliance.

In a statement, MACC confirmed that the information was submitted by Pertubuhan Badan Bertindak Generasi Palong (Perbagi) chairman Mohd Syahrizal Md Yusuf, who highlighted issues surrounding the programme’s implementation.

The concerns raised involve multiple aspects of the supply chain, including:

  • Supply and Delivery: The process and timeline of supplying seedlings to the site.
  • Storage and Age: Storage conditions and whether the age of the oil palm seedlings met optimal planting standards.
  • Specification Compliance: Whether the delivered stock adhered to stipulated technical requirements.

“MACC has taken note of the allegations and concerns raised and will examine the information to determine whether they involve any offences under its jurisdiction,” the commission stated.

MACC also noted the complainant’s request for a relevant technical agency to conduct a detailed physical inspection of the seedlings to verify quality and standards compliance. Any subsequent operational steps will be guided by the findings of the preliminary review and gathered information.

The commission emphasized that receiving information and initiating a review does not imply that an offence has been committed, nor should it be interpreted as a finding of wrongdoing against any party involved.

The oil palm replanting programme, which involves an estimated allocation between RM70 million and RM80 million, is projected to benefit approximately 450 settlers in the FELDA Palong 7 area.
