KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a Level 1 (caution category) hot weather status for 17 areas across Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak today as daily maximum temperatures continue to climb.
In a statement today, MetMalaysia reported that 11 of the affected areas are located in Peninsular Malaysia, five in Sabah, and one in Sarawak.
The affected areas in Peninsular Malaysia include:
- Perak: Larut and Matang, Kuala Kangsar, Kampar, and Batang Padang
- Pahang: Kuantan, Raub, Temerloh, and Pekan
- Selangor: Hulu Selangor and Gombak
- Kelantan: Kuala Krai
In Sabah, the Level 1 alert covers Telupid, Tenom, Sandakan, Pitas, and Beluran, while Marudi is the sole area affected in Sarawak.
MetMalaysia stated that a Level 1 hot weather caution is issued when the maximum daily temperature in a given location ranges between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius for at least three consecutive days.
