Police Appeal For Public Assistance To Identify Woman Found Dead In Suitcase In Sungai Perak

IPOH, August 19 — Perak police are appealing to members of the public to assist in identifying the body of a woman found stuffed inside a suitcase in Sungai Perak near Jeti Lembah in Kuala Kangsar last Friday, after multiple biometric database checks failed to yield a matching record.

Kuala Kangsar District Police Chief ACP Heisham Harun disclosed that initial fingerprint checks conducted by law enforcement turned up no records. Subsequent verification efforts carried out through the Perak National Registration Department (JPN) using the victim’s thumbprints similarly yielded no results in the national registry.

Forensic evaluations have provided several physical markers to aid in identification. A detailed dental examination indicated that the victim was in her 30s. Further physical measurements established that she stood 154 centimetres tall, weighed approximately 48 kilogrammes, had a tanned complexion, and wore her black hair at shoulder length.

Police also provided details regarding the attire and accessories found on the victim when her remains were recovered from the riverbank area.

“When found, the woman was wearing a long-sleeved black-and-white striped shirt, black jeans and earrings. We hope these physical characteristics and clothing will help members of the public identify the victim,” Heisham said in a statement today.

The discovery was made on Friday when the floating suitcase was spotted in Sungai Perak near the Jeti Lembah landing point. Police officially confirmed on Saturday that the remains inside the suitcase belonged to an adult woman estimated to be in her 30s. Authorities urge anyone with missing family members or relevant information to contact the nearest police station immediately.
