RoS Examines Official Bersatu Complaint Over Excluded PN Supreme Council Meeting and Membership Dispute

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 11 — The Registrar of Societies Malaysia (RoS) has confirmed receiving an official complaint from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) concerning claims of its exclusion from a Perikatan Nasional (PN) Supreme Council meeting on July 16, as well as broader issues surrounding its status within the coalition.

In an official statement released today, RoS confirmed that it is actively reviewing the complaint submitted by Bersatu in accordance with the Societies Act 1966 [Act 832], the Societies Regulations 1984, the coalition’s registered constitution, and official departmental records.

The department emphasized that its evaluation process will encompass a thorough check of all relevant documentation and submissions from the affected parties.

“To ensure that the review is comprehensive and based on the law, all information, documents and explanations submitted by the parties concerned will be examined,” RoS stated.

“The issues raised will be reviewed based on the provisions of the law currently in force,” the statement added.

Reaffirming its regulatory mandate, RoS pledged to maintain strict neutrality and professionalism throughout the investigative process, clarifying that it holds no political bias or interest in any registered organization.

The regulator also issued a broader reminder to all registered political entities and societies in Malaysia, stressing that full compliance with the Societies Act 1966, applicable regulations, and individual organizational constitutions remains mandatory.

The formal complaint follows earlier media reports indicating Bersatu’s intent to seek regulatory intervention after external claims emerged asserting that its membership in Perikatan Nasional would automatically cease amid speculation regarding the party’s future political alliances and coalition arrangements.
