GLASGOW, July 26 — National weightlifters Mohamad Aniq Kasdan and Muhamad Aznil Bidin headline a medal-promising day for Malaysia as the national contingent features across weightlifting, swimming, artistic gymnastics, lawn bowls, and 3×3 wheelchair basketball at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games on Sunday (July 26).
Weightlifting action at the Scottish Event Campus Armadillo will see Aniq leading Malaysia’s charge in the men’s 60 kilogramme (kg) final at 4:45 PM Malaysian time, before Irene Jane Henry competes in the women’s 48kg final at 9:15 PM. Aznil will then complete the weightlifting squad’s day in the men’s 65kg final set for 1:45 AM on Monday (July 27).
Over at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre, the quartet of Arvin Shaun Singh Chahal, Steve Khiew Hoe Yean, Lim Yin Chuen, and Tan Khai Xin will dive into action in the men’s 4×200 metre (m) freestyle relay heats at 7:09 PM, aiming to secure a place in the final slated for 4:26 AM on July 27.
In artistic gymnastics, Cadence Teh Zi Qi and Yeap Kang Xian will take the floor at the Glasgow International Arena as they battle for honors in the women’s individual all-around final starting at 1:00 AM on July 27.
National lawn bowlers continue their sectional play at the Scottish Event Campus Hall 3, with Izzat Shameer Dzulkeple taking on Kenya in the men’s singles at 9:45 PM, followed by the women’s pairs tandem of Aleena Ahmad Nawawi and Syafiqa Haidar Afif Abdul Rahman taking on host nation Scotland at 11:10 PM.
Rounding off the day’s schedule, the Malaysian 3×3 wheelchair basketball team will square off against Scotland in a preliminary men’s group fixture at the Scottish Event Campus Hall 4 at 2:30 AM on July 27.
