KL Court Jails Father 60 Years for Incestuous Rape

KUALA LUMPUR, July 24 — A 56-year-old man will spend six decades behind bars and receive 60 strokes of the cane after admitting to the horrific, repeated rape of his biological daughter, which led to the birth of a child.

Sessions Court Judge Mazuliana Abdul Rashid handed down a 10-year jail term and 10 whipping strokes for each of six distinct counts. The judge ordered all prison sentences to run consecutively, effective from the accused’s arrest on July 23.

The court established that the accused systematically assaulted his daughter—now 19—between October 2021 and June this year at a Taman Midah condominium unit. DNA profiling later confirmed that the accused fathered the victim’s four-year-old baby girl.

Arguing under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code, Deputy Public Prosecutor Banusha Jegathesan urged the court to deliver an uncompromising sentence, citing the profound psychological trauma inflicted on the victim.

“The victim in this case suffered from severe depression because this incident had happened repeatedly and the victim also had the intention to commit suicide, but had to think about her baby girl who is now four years old,” Banusha told the court.

“The accused was also previously accused of molesting the victim’s child. Therefore, the prosecution is requesting a severe sentence to teach the accused a lesson so that the public will not repeat the offence,” she added.

Unrepresented by legal counsel, the Indonesian national offered a brief plea for leniency, citing his 43-year residence in Malaysia, which the court ultimately rejected in favor of maximum consecutive penalties.
