SUNGAI PETANI, Oct 31 – Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) Vice-Chief Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari has emphasized that fielding young candidates in the 16th Melaka State Election is essential to ensure long-term leadership continuity and empower a new generation of political administrators.

Speaking after officiating the Grassroots Youth Inspirational Travel Programme (KIBAR) and National Sports Day in Sungai Petani, Kedah, on Saturday, October 31, 2026, Dr Taufiq stated that Pakatan Harapan (PH) is fielding credible youth candidates capable of delivering exceptional public service to Melaka residents.

Dr Taufiq, who is also the Youth and Sports Minister, highlighted three prominent young PH candidates: Melaka AMK Chief Muhammad Hakimin Mokhtar (N16 Ayer Molek), Tangga Batu AMK Chief Farzana Hayani Mohd Nasir (N14 Kelebang), and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) representative Mohammad Mukhlisul Mubin Julasapiyah (N01 Kuala Linggi).

“When we talk about young people, it is not just a matter of age alone but their leadership abilities, the space and opportunities given,” Dr Taufiq said. “We hope that the people of Melaka are able to make wise choices, the right choices, to ensure that the continuity of the leadership can continue to run smoothly.”

Hakimin, 35, and Mukhlisul Mubin, 24, are new faces fielded by PH, while 26-year-old Farzana Hayani previously contested under the PH banner in the Sungai Rambai constituency during the 2021 Melaka State Election.
