KLUANG, Aug 14 — A woman was killed and five others sustained injuries after a Toyota van collided with an Isuzu lorry at KM55.1 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS) northbound early this morning.

The fatal crash occurred in the early hours of Friday, prompting an emergency response from the Renggam Fire and Rescue Station (BBP).

Renggam Fire and Rescue Station Operations Commander Shoromi Salih confirmed that five personnel and a Sitrak fire and rescue vehicle were dispatched to the crash site, located 51 kilometres from the station, arriving at 12.54 am.

“The driver of the Toyota van, a woman, was confirmed dead at the scene after becoming trapped in the driver’s section,” Shoromi said in an official statement.

Five passengers travelling in the van—including three children and a disabled man—sustained varying degrees of injuries. All five were rescued from the wreckage by members of the public prior to the arrival of the firefighting crew.

Meanwhile, the male driver of the Isuzu lorry escaped the collision unhurt and was reported safe.
