BATU PAHAT, Sept 22 – A weak earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale was recorded in the waters off Batu Pahat, Johor, at 4:55 PM on Tuesday.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) confirmed that the epicenter of the offshore quake was located at coordinates 1.7 degrees North and 102.7 degrees East, at a focal depth of 10 kilometers.
The seismic event occurred approximately 27 kilometers southwest of Batu Pahat.
According to MetMalaysia, minor tremors were felt in Batu Pahat and surrounding areas following the quake.
The department stated that it will continue to closely monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary.
