LOS ANGELES, Sept 3 — Two people were killed and six others injured, including three police officers, following a shooting at a high-rise apartment building in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Wednesday.
The suspect subsequently died by suicide after opening fire on responding officers and retreating into an apartment, according to reports by local television stations quoting official sources.
The City of Minneapolis stated in a post on X that police officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 4:36 pm local time (2136 GMT). Upon entering the high-rise building, officers encountered victims and followed active gunfire to an upper floor, where they faced a dense haze that severely limited visibility.
Three responding officers were injured during the incident, two of them from gunfire.
Local television station KARE reported that the incident began as a domestic dispute between the shooter and one of the victims. The gunman opened fire on arriving officers before retreating into an apartment, where he later died by suicide.
