Two Dead, Several Injured in Separate Fatal Road Accidents Across Perak

IPOH, Aug 8 — Two people lost their lives while several others sustained injuries in two separate road crashes in Perak, with one fatal collision occurring near the West Coast Expressway (WCE) toll plaza near Teluk Intan and another incident at Kampung Pulau Juar near Kampung Gajah.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (Operations) Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the Teluk Intan crash occurred at around 6:30 am today, involving an unladen 25-tonne lorry, a Toyota Vellfire, and a Honda HR-V.

The multi-vehicle collision involved two women, aged 54 and 59, who were traveling in the Toyota Vellfire.

“The 59-year-old driver, who sustained serious injuries, was rescued by members of the public, but the 54-year-old was trapped in the front passenger seat and was confirmed dead by Ministry of Health (MOH) personnel,” Sabarodzi stated in a statement today.

“A 50-year-old man in the Honda HRV suffered minor injuries, while the 31-year-old lorry driver escaped unhurt,” he added.

Firefighters extricated the deceased passenger and handed her remains over to police for further investigation, while paramedics provided preliminary medical treatment to the injured victims before conveying them to hospital by ambulance.

In a separate tragedy at Kampung Pulau Juar near Kampung Gajah, a Proton Wira carrying six family members—a man, a woman, three boys, and a girl—skidded and crashed into a roadside drain at approximately 10:50 pm yesterday.

Bystanders successfully pulled the woman and four children out of the vehicle prior to the arrival of fire and rescue personnel at around 11:00 pm.

However, the driver was found unconscious inside the vehicle. Firefighters extricated him from the car and handed him over to medical personnel, who attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) at the scene.

“The man, who drove the car, was found unconscious. He was extricated by firefighters and handed over to Health Ministry personnel for treatment and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) at the scene,” Sabarodzi explained.

“However, Mohd Khirzee Musa, 39, was pronounced dead,” he said, noting that his remains were transferred to police custody.
