HAMILTON, Sept 19 — US President Donald Trump announced on Friday that the United States has secured an agreement with Denmark and Greenland, granting Washington permanent control over security in Greenland at no cost to the US.
Writing on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated that the deal addresses “all of our many US concerns” regarding the strategic Arctic territory.
“This is an ‘Infinite Life’ Agreement; there is no end! We are very honoured and proud of what has just taken place, and everything agreed to today will be cherished by the American people,” Trump wrote.
According to Trump, the US will immediately initiate plans to establish a substantial military footprint across the region, collaborating with the local population during development and construction efforts.
He further asserted strict strategic restrictions under the pact, stating that no foreign adversary will be permitted to establish a military presence, construct bases, or make sensitive investments in Greenland without express written approval from Washington.
