Sultan Nazrin Officiates Opening of RM173.3 Million Parit Buntar Hospital

PARIT BUNTAR, Sept 22 – Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah officiated the royal opening of Parit Buntar Hospital on Tuesday, marking a major milestone for healthcare infrastructure in northern Perak.

The royal ceremony was graced by Raja Permaisuri of Perak Tuanku Zara Salim and Raja Di Hilir Perak Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain Sultan Idris Shah. Also in attendance were Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad and Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.

Speaking at the event, Dr Dzulkefly highlighted that the project overcame significant hurdles, including soil stabilization works across paddy fields during early phases as well as interruptions during the COVID-19 pandemic. Construction on the facility originally began in January 2018 before reaching full completion on July 23, 2025.

Built at a total cost of RM173.3 million, Parit Buntar Hospital officially began operations on Sept 3, 2025.

The facility spans six building blocks and features 76 beds divided among male, female, paediatric, maternity, and High Dependency Unit (HDU) wards. Additional clinical infrastructure includes six delivery rooms, an observation bay, a Respiratory and Haemodynamic Unit (RHU), a Pregnancy Assessment Centre (PAC), and two modern operating theatres, one of which commenced operations on April 3, 2026.

The healthcare facility also offers zoned emergency services, specialist clinics, haemodialysis, imaging and diagnostics, pathology, blood transfusion, and pharmacy services, backed by resident internal medicine and emergency medicine specialists.

Dr Dzulkefly noted that Perak’s public healthcare network now encompasses one psychiatric institution, 14 hospitals, 89 health clinics, 78 dental clinics, 10 maternal and child health clinics, 188 rural clinics, and 16 community clinics providing comprehensive medical care across the state.
