KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 — A special parliament sitting will be convened on August 11 to debate the findings of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH), Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced today.
Anwar confirmed that the date and schedule for the special session had been finalized following discussions with Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul.
“The report will be tabled in Parliament on Aug 11 at 10 am, and the sitting will continue until the afternoon,” Anwar told reporters after officiating the opening of Maybank’s new headquarters at Menara Merdeka Maybank here today.
The RCI report, which was made public on Wednesday night, recommended that a forensic audit be conducted into past investment decisions that resulted in a severe deterioration in the pilgrimage board’s asset value.
Tasked with investigating the management and operational affairs of TH between 2014 and 2020, the commission identified several problematic investments warranting forensic scrutiny, while also uncovering evidence of suspicious transactions and the concealment of information.
Earlier, the Prime Minister officiated the opening of Maybank’s new headquarters, marking a major milestone in the banking group’s 66-year history and its continued expansion as a leading regional financial services provider.
