SHAH ALAM, Oct 23
– Selangor police dismantled a major drug trafficking ring operating out of an unregistered house of worship in Klang during a series of coordinated raids across the state between October 13 and October 19, 2026.

Selangor Police Chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar confirmed that a local man working part-time as an assistant at the temple was detained to facilitate ongoing investigations.

During the Klang raid, narcotics officers discovered 20.6 kilogrammes (kg) of heroin hidden inside a storage room. Further checks revealed that the house of worship was unregistered, with the land legally gazetted as a site for sewerage infrastructure.

Police do not rule out the possibility that the religious premises were deliberately used as a covert storage and distribution hub to evade detection.

Key details on the narcotics busts, suspect profiles, total contraband values, and an unrelated criminal investigation include:

  • Total Contraband Value & Assets Assetized: The total market value of the seized drugs is estimated at RM16.2 million. Police also seized two motorcars, a motorcycle, and mixed local and foreign currencies totaling RM54,835.

  • Foreign Helper Abuse Case: In a separate police briefing, Shazeli revealed that suspected theft and property damage are believed to be the motive behind the severe abuse of a foreign domestic helper who suffered burn injuries across her body.
