Schools In Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Putrajaya, And Select Klang Valley Areas To Reopen On Monday

Pahang Putrajaya schools reopen haze API

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 11 – Educational institutions under the Ministry of Education (MOE) across Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Putrajaya, and targeted districts in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor will resume normal operations on Monday, October 12, 2026.

According to statements released by regional education departments on Sunday, October 11, 2026, the reopening follows a consistent decline in Air Pollutant Index (API) readings across multiple states and districts.

However, localized closures will persist in designated high-polluted areas, where Home-Based Teaching and Learning (PdPR) and Work From Home (WFH) directives remain active to safeguard student and educator health.

Regional School Operations Breakdown

State education departments provided detailed operational updates based on 2:00 PM APIMS air quality metrics:

  • Kuala Lumpur (Sentul & Keramat Reopen; Bangsar/Pudu Closed): Schools under the Sentul and Keramat District Education Offices (PPDs) will reopen after API readings dropped to a moderate 84 at Batu Muda. Schools under the Bangsar/Pudu PPD remain closed due to an unhealthy API reading of 152 in Cheras, with PdPR and WFH directives continuing.
  • Selangor (Partial Reopening): Schools under the Hulu Langat, Gombak, and Petaling Perdana PPDs will remain closed due to elevated API readings. Educational institutions in all other Selangor districts will operate as usual.
  • Melaka (Full Reopening): All schools in Melaka will operate normally as API readings fell below 100 across Alor Gajah (91), Bukit Rambai (94), and Bandaraya Melaka (96).
  • Putrajaya (Full Reopening): All Putrajaya schools will resume normal classes as the API consistently declined over three days to reach 70.
  • Negeri Sembilan & Pahang (Full Reopening): All MOE institutions in Negeri Sembilan and Pahang will operate as usual, with continuous API tracking by respective PPDs. High-risk students in Negeri Sembilan are advised to wear face masks.

State education departments advised parents, teachers, and staff to monitor official MOE communication channels for further directives as air quality conditions evolve.
