Schools In Four States Reopen Tuesday With Mandatory Outdoor Activity Suspensions Due To Haze

Schools reopen haze outdoor activities suspended Melaka Selangor Pahang

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 19 – All primary and secondary schools across Melaka, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, and three districts in Pahang (Kuantan, Rompin, and Bentong) will resume normal operations on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, though all outdoor and co-curricular activities remain suspended due to ongoing haze conditions.

In official statements released on Monday, October 19, respective State Education Departments directed school administrators to continuously track real-time Air Pollutant Index (API) readings from the Department of Environment (DOE) and implement immediate safety measures for high-risk students.

Students attending classes are advised to wear face masks, particularly those exhibiting respiratory symptoms. State authorities noted that parents concerned about their children’s health may keep them home, provided they notify school management.

State Directive Summary and MOEIS Deadline Extensions

Key directives and administrative adjustments announced across affected educational jurisdictions include:

  • Melaka & Selangor Guidelines: School administrators must closely monitor API levels and provide heightened supervision for vulnerable students. Parents have discretionary permission to keep children home upon informing the school.
  • Negeri Sembilan & Pahang Directives: All MOE educational institutions across Negeri Sembilan and the Kuantan, Rompin, and Bentong districts in Pahang will operate normally, with all outdoor activities strictly postponed.
  • MOEIS UASA/PAT/PASA Deadline Extension: Following haze-related session disruptions, the Ministry of Education extended the mark submission deadline for the End-of-Academic-Session Assessment (UASA) and End-of-Academic-Session Examinations (PAT/PASA) by one week, moving the closing date from November 21 to November 28, 2026.
  • MOEIS PAJSK Deadline Extension: The submission deadline for entering marks for the Physical, Sports, and Co-curricular Assessment (PAJSK) has been extended from November 30 to December 5, 2026.

Education authorities reiterated that further operational adjustments will be communicated via District Education Offices based on evolving air quality data.
