PUTRAJAYA, Sept 24 – The Road Transport Department (RTD) has refuted a viral post published on the ‘Along Auto Parts’ Facebook page titled “RTD Proposes Allowing Rohingyas to Obtain Driving Licenses?”, which was deceptively formatted to resemble an official news report.
In response to the misleading post, RTD confirmed that it has lodged an official report with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to facilitate a formal investigation and initiate regulatory action.
“RTD takes a serious view of any party producing, modifying, or disseminating content that uses the department’s name, identity, or image in a way that could mislead the public and undermine RTD’s credibility,” the department stated in a Facebook post on Thursday.
The department urged the public to refrain from sharing unverified information and to rely strictly on official RTD platforms for authentic updates.
A check on the ‘Along Auto Parts’ Facebook page indicated that the post, uploaded on Wednesday night, remained active as of 9:15 AM on Thursday, garnering over 1,800 comments and 325 shares.
