KOTA KINABALU, Aug 7 — The remains of three policemen electrocuted during an incident in Beaufort yesterday were transferred to the Forensic Department of Queen Elizabeth Hospital early this morning for post-mortem examinations.
The three vans carrying the victims arrived at the hospital compound at 1:10 am, escorted by several Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) patrol vehicles from the Beaufort, Papar, Penampang, and Kota Kinabalu District Police Headquarters.
Beaufort district police chief Supt Champin Piuh confirmed that the remains will undergo necessary autopsies and documentation procedures before being released to their next of kin.
“After all the formalities are completed, the bodies will be sent back to their respective hometowns accompanied by police officers from the Beaufort IPD,” Supt Champin said.
The three deceased officers, who were attached to the Weston police station, have been identified as Corporal Chiu Teck Siong, 40, originally from Sarawak; Lance Corporal Mohamad Nur Hafiz Ibrahim, 29, from Kelantan; and Lance Corporal Muhammad Raimi Ismarubee, 26, from Terengganu.
In the tragic incident occurring at approximately 5:50 pm yesterday, all three personnel were pronounced dead after suffering severe electric shocks while moving a 29-foot iron pole used to harvest coconuts outside the Weston Police Station, located near Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Weston.
