AYER KEROH, 25 Sept – Parti Wawasan Negara Chairman Tan Sri Dr Mohd Rais Yatim arrived at the Ayer Keroh Court Complex in Melaka on Friday, where he is expected to be charged under the Sedition Act.
Mohd Rais arrived at the premises at 8:40 AM, accompanied by his wife, Puan Sri Masnah Muhamat, and his son Danni Rais, who currently serves as the Klawang state assemblyman.
The former veteran politician is slated to be charged before Judge Raja Noor Adilla Raja Mahyaldin.
The legal proceedings follow recent developments concerning his royal state honors. On July 30, the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, ordered the immediate revocation of the Darjah Seri Utama Negeri Sembilan and Darjah Dato’ Setia Negeri Sembilan awards previously conferred on Rais.
Registrar of Orders Datuk Moha Zafir Ibrahim confirmed at the time that Tuanku Muhriz had directed the withdrawal of the two state honors, which were awarded in 2001 and 1979 respectively, in order to preserve the dignity, sanctity, and honor of the Negeri Sembilan royal institution.
Mohd Rais previously served as the Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan from 1978 to 1982.
