Police Bust International Drug Syndicate in Klang Valley, Seize RM35.24 Million Worth of Narcotics

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 17 — Police have dismantled an international drug trafficking and processing syndicate masterminded by foreign nationals following six coordinated raids across the Klang Valley on Sept 10, seizing narcotics valued at RM35.24 million.

Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN) director Datuk Hussein Omar Khan disclosed that operations in Ampang, Petaling, Kepong, Brickfields, Subang Jaya, and Sepang led to the arrest of 11 suspects aged between 25 and 48, comprising six local men, two foreign men, and three foreign women.

The two foreign suspects, who hold Australian and Canadian passports respectively, are believed to have acted as both masterminds and primary chemists for the syndicate, which has been active since January.

“The syndicate used a rented bungalow in Ampang as a drug processing laboratory,” Hussein told a press conference today, adding that a separate raid in Subang Jaya uncovered drug-processing equipment indicating preparations to set up a second laboratory.

Detailing the narcotics seized, Hussein stated that officers confiscated 344.89kg of methamphetamine powder, 347.15 litres of liquid methamphetamine, 3.84kg of MDMA powder, 630g of Eramin 5 pills, and 20g of cannabis. The illicit consignment was estimated to be sufficient to supply three million users and was intended for both domestic and international markets.

In addition to the drugs, police seized a .38-calibre revolver, 11 vehicles, a luxury watch, two ATM cards, and RM3,610 in cash. The non-drug assets, valued at RM1.79 million, were seized under the Dangerous Drugs (Forfeiture of Property) Act 1988.

Five key suspects have been remanded until Sept 23 and 24 under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, while the remaining six individuals were released on bail to serve as police witnesses.

“This success reflects JSJN’s commitment, robust enforcement and integrity in tackling the drug threat on all fronts,” Hussein said. “JSJN remains committed to fighting drugs to protect current and future generations. Drugs are the country’s number one enemy.”
