PN To Initiate Disciplinary Action Against Bersatu Under Article 15 Of Coalition Constitution

PN disciplinary action Bersatu Takiyuddin Hassan

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 25 – Perikatan Nasional (PN) will commence formal disciplinary proceedings against component party Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) for actions deemed contrary to the coalition’s collective interests.

PN Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan announced the decision following a high-level PN Supreme Council meeting on Sunday night, October 25, 2026.

Takiyuddin highlighted that the disciplinary action is being executed pursuant to Article 15 of the PN Constitution, which grants the council broad supervisory powers over member entities.

Under the constitutional clause, the Supreme Council maintains full authority to issue formal warnings, suspend membership, or expel any political party, individual member, affiliated body, or associate member found in breach of coalition protocols.

“PN will take the appropriate steps under the disciplinary proceedings and formally present the charges to the member party concerned, namely Bersatu,” Takiyuddin told reporters during a post-meeting press conference.

The coalition will accord Bersatu an adequate timeframe to submit a formal defense response before the council renders any final determination.

Key organizational updates, legal developments, and official state election schedules confirmed by PN include:

  • PN Logo Adopted For Melaka Polls: PN confirmed that all coalition candidates contesting in the 16th Melaka State Election will contest under the official Perikatan Nasional symbol.
  • Seat Distribution Meetings: Seat allocations and finalized candidate lists will be determined through an upcoming series of coalition component meetings.
  • Court Stay On RoS Suspension: Takiyuddin noted that a High Court ruling on October 22 granted a stay against a suspension order previously issued by the Registrar of Societies (RoS), allowing PN to legally resume all national administrative activities and functions.
  • Melaka Election Key Dates: The Election Commission (EC) has fixed Saturday, October 31, 2026, for candidate nominations, Tuesday, November 10, for early voting, and Saturday, November 14, as polling day.
