IPOH, Aug 20 — Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad has confirmed the resignation of his political secretary, Mohamad Hamidi Baharuddin, effective August 17.
Saarani stated that the resignation letter was tendered on August 10, with Mohamad Hamidi citing health issues and the need to focus on seeking medical treatment as the reasons for stepping down.
Speaking to reporters after officiating the Invest in Perak Day 2026 programme here today, Saarani addressed ongoing online speculation linking his former aide to alleged drug abuse.
In response to the viral claims, the Menteri Besar emphasized that he would not entertain assumptions or unverified allegations circulating online.
“He submitted his resignation letter citing health reasons as he needs to undergo treatment. I accept his decision based on the reasons provided and will not make any assumptions regarding rumors on social media,” Saarani said.
