Over 22,000 Security Personnel to Cast Early Votes in Negeri Sembilan State Election Tomorrow

SEREMBAN, July 27 — A total of 22,339 security personnel and their spouses, comprising 16,884 military voters and 5,455 police voters, will cast their ballots in early voting for the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election tomorrow.

The Election Commission (EC) has designated 38 early polling centres across the state, with all locations opening simultaneously at 8:00 AM and closing times varying according to specific polling sites.

Key early polling stations established for security personnel include the Army Basic Training Centre (PUSASDA) in Port Dickson, the Negeri Sembilan Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK), Sendayan Air Base in Seremban, and the Nilai District Police Headquarters (IPD).

Early voting for eligible armed forces and police personnel, alongside their spouses, takes place four days prior to the main polling day scheduled for August 1, following the dissolution of the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly on June 5.

According to weather forecasts issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), morning weather is expected to remain clear across most parts of Negeri Sembilan, with the exception of Port Dickson, where heavy rain and thunderstorms are anticipated. Heavy rain is predicted across nearly the entire state during the afternoon.

A total of 103 candidates are vying for all 36 state legislative seats in a heavily contested election. Pakatan Harapan (PH) is contesting every constituency with 36 candidates, comprising 16 from PKR, 11 from DAP, and nine from Amanah. Barisan Nasional (BN) is fielding 25 candidates across the state, including 16 from UMNO, seven from MCA, and two from MIC.

Meanwhile, Perikatan Nasional (PN) has fielded 11 candidates, comprising five from PAS, four from Parti Wawasan Negara (Wawasan), and one candidate each from Gerakan and the Malaysian Indian People Party (MIPP). Contesting independently, Bersatu has fielded 24 candidates. Additionally, Parti Barisan Jemaah Islamiah Se-Malaysia (Berjasa) is fielding seven candidates, while Parti Orang Asli Malaysia (ASLI) and Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) are each contesting a single seat.
