SEREMBAN, July 30 — Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir has decreed the immediate revocation of two state honours previously awarded to former Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Tan Sri Dr Mohd Rais Yatim.
Title and Award Registrar Datuk Mohd Zafir Ibrahim confirmed today that the revoked titles include the Darjah Seri Utama Negeri Sembilan and the Darjah Dato’ Setia Negeri Sembilan, which were conferred on Rais in 2001 and 1979, respectively.
In an official statement released today, Mohd Zafir explained that the decision was taken to uphold the integrity and stature of the state monarchy.
“This decision was made to safeguard the dignity, honour and sanctity of the Royal Institution of Negeri Sembilan,” Mohd Zafir said in a statement today.
Rais, who currently serves as chairman of Parti Wawasan Negara, held office as Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar from 1978 to 1982.
